FAQS
Here are some of the most common questions I’m asked when people contact me to start therapy. If you don’t see an answer you’re looking for or if you’re ready to schedule a free consultation, please reach out and I’ll be happy to help.

My office is located in Colorado Springs near I25 and Briargate Parkway across from The Shops at Briargate, at 1880 Office Club Pointe. I offer both in-person and virtual sessions, or a combination, depending on what’s most convenient for you.
-
Online therapy works just like in person therapy, except we’ll meet via a secure, HIPAA compliant Zoom meeting for our sessions. Many of my clients choose to meet virtually either because they live outside of Colorado Springs, or because virtual appointments are most convenient for their busy schedules. You’ll receive a secure, unique link via email before each session, and log on using the link from a private location of your choice with reliable wifi. We can do both traditional therapy and EMDR virtually. I offer online therapy across Colorado and Florida.

My fees for therapy are:
Psychotherapy/EMDR Sessions: $185 per 50 minute session
Extended EMDR Processing Sessions: $450 per 120 minute session
Short-Term Accelerated EMDR Intensives: Because EMDR Intensives are highly personalized and individualized for you, please contact me for a free consultation to discuss a customized plan that will best meet your needs and a price quote

I’m an out of network provider for all insurance, and work within a direct care, private pay model. I intentionally work with a limited number of clients at one time so I can provide deeply focused, individualized care. This model allows our work together to be guided entirely by your needs and goals, without the limitations often required by insurance companies.
Insurance-based therapy typically involves restrictions around diagnosis, treatment length, and documentation, and may require sharing sensitive information with third parties. Private pay allows for greater privacy, flexibility, and freedom in how we approach your care.
If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide a superbill after each session that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. You can use this link to quickly check your out of network benefits.
*I am not a Medicaid provider, and due to federal regulations I am unable to provide services to any Medicaid recipient.

The length of therapy varies depending on your goals, the complexity of what you’re working through, and how you prefer to approach the process.
Some clients choose to engage in ongoing therapy over time, whether for deeper self-understanding, working through complex or developmental trauma, or navigating an ongoing life situation. In these cases, our work may unfold over several months or longer.
Others are looking for a more focused, efficient approach. When appropriate, we can work in a structured, goal-oriented way to create meaningful progress over a shorter period of time. This may include:
Focused weekly sessions with a clear treatment plan
Extended EMDR sessions
Short-term EMDR intensives over one or more days
I approach therapy with an emphasis on depth, clarity, and efficiency, helping you move toward meaningful results without unnecessary prolonging of the process.
After our initial sessions, we’ll collaborate on a clear, individualized plan outlining your goals, the approach we’ll take, and an expected timeframe.
-
Session frequency is tailored to your goals, preferences, and the level of support you’re wanting.
Most clients begin with weekly sessions. This allows us to build a strong foundation, establish momentum, and create meaningful progress early in the process. I typically recommend meeting weekly for the first 4–6 sessions for this reason.
For those seeking a more focused or accelerated approach, options such as extended EMDR sessions or intensive formats may also be appropriate and offer flexibility.
We’ll collaborate to determine a structure that feels both effective and sustainable for you.

My clients often tell me that they’ve been to therapy or tried EMDR before, but did not experience the same progress and results that they do in our work together. I am committed to making this process a success for you, and some things I offer that are unique include:
I bring 20 years of experience as a practicing therapist to the process, as well as extensive and specialized training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Interpersonal Neurobiology, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This means there isn't much I haven't heard and you can bring anything into our sessions, and that I can choose from a variety of approaches that are specifically tailored to your history, needs, and goals.
Our work is based on a personalized treatment plan that we create together after our initial sessions, which serves as a roadmap keeping us on track towards your goals so you can go beyond just talking or coping to deeper healing and lasting change.
I have specialized training and experience in working intensively to give you the option of reducing your overall commitment of time and money spent in therapy.
My direct care practice model offers services that are personal and relational. Because I'm not managing the administrative demands of chasing after insurance reimbursement or juggling too many clients to avoid burnout, I'm able to work with your unique schedule, tailor therapy to your specific needs, and adjust our session frequency and length as needed.
-
A minimum of 48 hours notice is required to cancel or reschedule a session to avoid being charged the full session fee.

I am licensed to provide therapy to clients located in Colorado and Florida. For clients outside of these states, I offer EMDR intensives in person in Colorado. Many clients choose to travel for this focused, short-term work.
My office is conveniently located in a highly walkable area, with hotels, restaurants, and shops nearby, making it easy to plan a comfortable and supportive stay. If you’re traveling for an intensive, I’m happy to provide recommendations for accommodations, dining, and wellness services, and can help you design an experience that supports both the therapeutic work and your time here.

You can contact me to schedule a free consultation, and I'll return your call or email within 24 business hours.
Finding a counselor can be a confusing process, making the first phone call can be daunting, and going to a first session can be downright anxiety provoking.
I get it.
I try to make the process as easy and comfortable as possible. Our first interaction is a no pressure, no obligation, free phone consultation so that we can get to know a little about each other and make sure we're a good fit for therapy. I'll ask for a brief overview of what you're seeking help with - you don't have to give me all the details, I just want to make sure I'm the right person to help get you where you're wanting to go. I'll listen, and then explain how I can help you resolve the issues you're having, as well as what to expect in the process of therapy. You can ask me any questions you have.
That's it.
I hope you'll reach out - I'm here to help!

You have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don't have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask any health care provider for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
